Talking Parts

Exploring astrological archetypes, connecting to inner parts, and creating what we want

What might your Sun say to your Moon? What would your Mercury like to communicate to your Mars? How would your Venus and your Saturn work together if they could be on the same page?

The planets in our astrological birth chart can be seen as representing our inner parts, each with their own energies, motivations, desires, and fears. Looking closer at the relationships between the planets in our chart can help us understand how our inner parts may be in conflict with one another, keeping us stuck in old habits of thinking and behaving.

Talking Parts is a group coaching workshop that will provide an opportunity for each participant to engage with the sign energies of two planets in their astrological birth chart. Through creative writing and art making, participants will generate dialogue between inner parts. Questions prompting reflection and exploration will assist participants in creating new inner dynamics, shifting them from tension into harmony. Participants will discover ways to dissolve blockages and establish a path to creating what they want.

All levels of astrological knowledge are welcome. General information on archetypes will be provided. Participants are invited to work with whatever astrological understandings they have and their own inner wisdom.

The workshop will prioritize creating a safe container so you can explore, listen inwardly, and share among an inclusive gathering of other seekers. Sharing is an invitation and you can always opt out. Your presence and attention are just as valued as your voiced reflections.

Invitations for gentle somatic practice will also be offered and you may join in however feels comfortable. The workshop will include invitations to notice and sense into our bodies and our breath, bringing our nervous systems to a state of calm so that our inner parts may speak and be heard.

Voiced and written prompts will help us listen to and process what is being said. Through silent reflection, writing, and art making, we will engage our inner parts in a conversation and explore the potential for new ways of relating and responding, opening the way to create what we really want.

How to prepare

If you do not already have your astrological birth chart, you can calculate your chart on an astrological site or app of your choosing by entering your birth date, location, and time. If you need a suggestion, I like Astro-Seek for its simplicity, clear labeling of charts, and depth of options (in case you get curious and want to go deeper).

Before the workshop, contemplate an area of your inner or outer world where you experience tension, conflict, confusion, or a sense of being stuck. For those who are familiar with astrology, you may have a sense of how these experiences are reflected in your chart. You can prepare for the workshop by noticing how two planets in your chart might be coming forward around blockages. For those with less astrological knowledge, use your intuition and other modalities you already employ to consider how you might listen to distinct inner voices in moments of tension or conflict.

For all participants, meditate on a shift you would like to experience in your life. What change would be meaningful for you? What are you yearning for? Small or large, if it connects to your heart’s desire, this is an opportunity to explore it.

If you have questions about any of the elements of the workshop, please get in touch.

What to bring

Please bring your astrological birth chart and a notebook, journal, or sketchpad. Art supplies and pens will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own as well. Space will be available to work on tables or on the floor. Bring a yoga mat, cushions, or blanket if desired. Bring your favorite way to hydrate. Most of all, bring your curiosity and intention to create something new.
